History

The Oenotheque Wine Club was founded in 2003 by David Stewart and remains a small family run business. David, whose background was in Advertising and Management Consultancy, has long been a wine enthusiast, originally from a consumer’s point of view, but now additionally as a grower, winemaker and wine merchant. He has studied all aspects of wine through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust exams, culminating with the Diploma, and on his travels has tasted wines all over the world. He now also has practical experience of viticulture and viniculture having planted a vineyard at his home in Surrey where he makes small quantities of a Pinot Noir/Rondo blend. His main interest is to seek out new and interesting wines, especially from small family producers who really care about the integrity of their wine and are proud of their local heritage. Oenotheque enables him to share his knowledge, enthusiasm and delight in drinking good wine with members of the Club.
